Cool rustic with modern upgrades! Rare direct waterfront coastal cabin located 35 minutes south of historic downtown Savannah in a serene coastal environment in Colonels Island GA. Sitting on a bluff on the vast North Newport River, this direct waterfront cabin offers spectacular river views, not to mention colorful sunsets. The very nicely appointed cabin with 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths comfortably sleeps 6 guests and features plenty of outdoor seating, a gazebo, and an outdoor cooking area with a grill.

Bring your boat and dock at the private COVERED deep water dock. Explore the barrier islands by boat or charter a trip with a local captain. Bring your poles and fish directly off the private dock. Or if you would like to go the beach by car, head north 50 min to Tybee Island or south 50 minutes to Jekyll Island or St Simons Island. Explore the historic sites in nearby Savannah GA and then come back to this cabin and grill out with the family in a peaceful setting. The cabin is also very close to the Half Moon Marina, where you can launch your boat, get ice, bait, and gas.

The moonshine cabin is your gateway to the unspoiled Georgia Barrier Islands. These protected islands and waterways offer pristine beaches and a reef ecosystem that attracts incredible fishing. With low pressure, catches of redfish, sea trout, flounder, drum and sheepshead are common and can be targeted year round.  In the warmer months, tarpon and tripletail also frequent the area. Offshore fishing is also exceptional and just a 12 mile run to either St. Catherines or Sapelo Sound. Nearshore catches include Spanish and King Mackerel, Black Seabass, and Red Drum. A little further off and species like Snapper, Grouper and Triggerfish can be targeted. We can also arrange for a charter boat for a day of offshore fishing and a leisure trip exploring the undisturbed beaches and wildlife of the islands.

These same pristine waters also provide excellent wildlife viewing and the cottage is just a short boat ride from some of the best secluded beaches on the coast. These include Sapelo Island, Cabretta Island & Blackbeard Island. The cottage is also adjacent from Harris Neck National Wildlife Refuge, which provides excellent year round birding and wildlife viewing.

For hunting enthusiasts, Salt Crest is near Dorchester Shooting Preserve, where you can seasonally arrange quail and other hunts, or enjoy shooting sporting clays year-round.
