Outdoor Access

Duck hunters in Sargent, TX, find lots of places to hunt. The marshes and bayous are good for ducks like mallards, pintails, gadwalls, and northern shovelers. Coastal waters also have ducks, including redheads, canvasbacks, scaup, and teal. Inland wetlands add more variety with mallards, gadwalls, ring-necked ducks, and scaup. St. Mary’s Bayou attracts mallards, pintails, teal, and wigeons. Oyster Lake is good for mallards, pintails, gadwalls, and redheads. Knowing the area and following rules makes waterfowl hunting better.

Oyster Lake, Parker’s Cut, Rawling’s Cut, and River Bend Boat Ramp offer more chances for fishing and birding. Riverside Park is a beautiful start for paddling downstream. St. Mary’s Bayou is a large marsh for exploration. 3 Mile Lake needs a 4×4 but is a marsh area on Matagorda Beach. FM521 Park is a ramp and camping site.
