This cabin accommodates up to 8 guests across two bedrooms, both furnished with queen-sized beds. Additionally, the living room and upstairs loft offer sleeping options with queen pull-out couches. There is a bathroom on each level. The cabin features a dining room seating 6 people and a well-equipped kitchen to fuel for your adventures. The property backs up to expansive woods and trails, perfect for exploring. The wrap-around porch, fully enclosed and covered, includes a log picnic table, a log swing, rocking chairs, and a charcoal grill on the deck, providing an inviting space to unwind after a day of activities.

The Lake Lure area’s beauty, diversity of outdoor experiences and easy access to adventures makes it a premier vacation destination. Surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, the 104 feet deep clear lake is a treasure in the Hickory Nut Gorge. With abundant trails and local flora and fauna, there is something for every type of outdoor adventurer.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding*
Explore the lake on a stand up paddle board to take in the views and find secluded swimming spots.

Birding
There are lots of great birding spots around Lake Lure on the Rumbling Bald Loop, Party Rock Trail, Buffalo Creek Park Loop, and Weed Patch Mountain Trail. You can also find a variety of species at the Chimney Rock Park.

Summer: Peregrine Falcon, Common Raven, Wood Thrush, Acadian Flycatcher, Red-eyed, Yellow-throated, and Blue-headed Vireos, Black-throated Blue, Black-throated Green, Cerulean, Black-and-white, Worm-eating, Swainson’s, and Hooded Warblers, American Redstart, Louisiana Waterthrush, Scarlet Tanager. Winter: Golden-crowned and Ruby-crowned Kinglets and White-throated Sparrow. Year-round: Black and Turkey Vultures, Red-bellied, Downy, Hairy, and Pileated Woodpeckers, White-breasted Nuthatch, Song Sparrow, Dark-eyed Junco.

Fishing
Lake Lure is excellent for both warm and cold-water species of fish. Species include: largemouth and smallmouth bass, trout, bream/bluegills, crappie, perch, white bass, carp, and several species of catfish. And don’t forget to purchase your fishing license from the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. If you’re interested in trout fishing, it’s recommended to explore other nearby rivers and streams in the region, such as the Green River or the Davidson River, which offer better trout fishing opportunities in western North Carolina.

Kayaking*
Kayaking is a fantastic way to adventure around the lake. The Washburn Marina has a kayak launch for those bringing their own boat. If you are looking for fast moving water, check out the Broad River, located below the lake.

Hiking
Within ten minutes of the lake explore Chimney Rock State Park with spectacular vistas, Party Rock with a 180-degree view of the lake , Rumbling Bald Loop with climbing opportunities, Dittmer-Watts Nature Trail for easy to moderate options, and Morse Park with wonderful local flora and fauna. Within twenty minutes check out Hickory Nut Falls to cool off in the mist from the waterfall, Youngs Mountain to hike a more moderate to challenging trail, and Devil’s Head to enjoy the view from the granite rock outcropping. Thirty minutes away, enjoy Little Bradley Falls hike for a triple-tiered, 50+ foot wall of gorgeousness and Big Bradley Falls hike, a more technical hike to a 100-foot waterfall. If you are up for a longer drive and more strenuous trails, within fifty minutes access the amazing hiking at Buffalo Creek Park and Weed Patch Mountain.

Mountain Biking
Tear up the trails at Buffalo Creek Park and Weed Patch Mountain on your bike. Kitsuma is another favorite mountain biking trail forty five minutes from Lake Lure. The trail features a mix of technical sections, steep climbs, and exhilarating descents. Riders can expect a variety of terrain, including rocky sections, rooty areas, and flowy descents.

Climbing
The Hickory Nut Gorge offers excellent coming opportunities. The Chimney Rock Park Rumbling Bald Climbing access is great for more advanced climbers and the Chimney Rock Park offers lessons for newbies. “The Sentinel,” a multi-pitch climb renowned for its iconic status, blending crack and face climbing while providing breathtaking vistas of Lake Lure. “Screamweaver,” also in the park, presents a challenging single-pitch ascent, prized by advanced climbers for its steep and intricate sequences. Rumbling Bald Mountain features “Bumblebee Buttress,” which offers routes suitable for climbers of different abilities, some being accessible to beginners, alongside more technical challenges. “Master Beta,” another single-pitch choice at Rumbling Bald, is known for its demanding, juggy climbing, ideal for those seeking a physically intensive climb with solid holds. For those seeking a longer adventure with increased exposure, the “Two Pitch Route” at Rumbling Bald provides a two-pitch ascent. Finally, in the Pisgah National Forest, “Whitsides Cliff” is celebrated for its traditional climbing routes, offering a mix of single-pitch and multi-pitch options, each presenting varying levels of difficulty to accommodate climbers’ preferences and skills.
