Enjoy birdwatching while reclining on the large covered porch looking out onto the expansive lake, which is home to bald eagles, osprey, ibis, wood storks, and many others. Alligators, snakes, foxes, and more of nature’s creatures can be found as well. Take advantage of the quiet nature trails available for walking, a fire pit, and fishing. You will leave this beautiful lake retreat feeling refreshed, relaxed, and eager for another trip to Lake Nichols.
Although fishing membership season is February 1 through October 31, fishing with the Cabin rental is available year round. Boats (you provide) cannot be in the lake November 1 through January 31 due to duck hunting. No fishing license is required.
Lake Nichols dates before the Civil War and has been the home of a grist mill, cotton gin, turpentine plant, and small community; some original structures still stand. This private lake is creek fed and has been a fishing lake for decades. It is loaded with largemouth bass, catfish, speckled perch, bream, and bluegill. The Nichols family is the fourth and longest family to have owned this property in recorded Georgia history. Lake Nichols is the area’s premier fishing destination.
