This Sunbury home offers the gateway to the best kept secret on the East Coast – the unspoiled Georgia Barrier Islands. These protected islands and waterways offer pristine beaches and a reef ecosystem that attracts incredible fishing. With low pressure, catches of redfish, sea trout, flounder, drum and sheepshead are common and can be targeted year round. In the warmer months, tarpon and tripletail also frequent the area. Offshore fishing is also exceptional and just a short run to St. Catherine's Sound.. Nearshore catches include Spanish and King Mackerel, Black Seabass, and Red Drum. A little further off and species like Snapper, Grouper and Triggerfish can be targeted. We can also arrange for a charter boat for a day of offshore fishing and a leisure trip exploring the undisturbed beaches and wildlife of the islands.
These same pristine waters also provide excellent wildlife viewing and the cottage is just a short boat ride from some of the best secluded beaches on the coast. These include Sapelo Island, Cabretta Island & Blackbeard Island.
For hunting enthusiasts, the home is near Dorchester Shooting Preserve, where you can seasonally arrange quail and other hunts, or enjoy shooting sporting clays year-round
