Middleburg is a 325-year-old former rice plantation located on the East Branch of the Cooper River. The Main House was completed in 1697 and still stands as the oldest home in the southeastern United States. The property features expansive outdoor amenities including live oak groves, trails, ponds, and direct access to the East Branch of the Cooper River for paddlesports or fishing. The estate is located in close proximity to numerous public recreational assets around coastal South Carolina.
Experience the original home built by Benjamin Simons and immerse yourself in over 300 years of history. The home retains many historical features and charm, while offering modernized amenities for guests. The Main House features four distinct bedrooms and includes communal access to the primary living room, dining room, and kitchen areas. The home features central air conditioning and heat, as well as mobile fans for guest use.
The Simons Room is located on the top floor of the Main House and provides the most spacious experience upstairs and nearby access to the conveniences of the home. The room features two queen beds and a full ensuite bathroom. The Simons Room is priced for two adults but can accommodate up to four guests. Please inquire if you wish to add additional guests to your stay. Guests are welcome to use all indoor common areas of the Main House, in addition to full access to the grounds of Middleburg. The property is a non-smoking facility and pets are not permitted on premises. There is no cable, internet, and cell service is limited on the property.
